It is particularly suitable for automated test systems that require a balance between medium-to-high channel density and top-tier performance. Featuring a PCI Express Gen 3 x8 backplane, this chassis provides 24 GB/s system bandwidth and 8 GB/s dedicated bandwidth per slot, coupled with industry-leading thermal performance of 82 W/s (0–40 °C), allowing direct power delivery to high-power modular instruments—such as high-speed digitizers, RF transceivers, and FPGA modules—without derating.

The PXIe-1092 is available in two models: 784781-01 (standard version, VCXO clock, 9,182) and 786991-01 (timing and synchronization upgrade version, OCXO clock, 10,643). The latter improves the 10 MHz/100 MHz reference clock accuracy from ±25 ppm to ±80 ppb and supports external 10 MHz reference clock input/output, inter-chassis trigger routing, and remote disable control. With a total available power of 988 W and a replaceable power supply design with less than 1 minute of downtime, it combines high performance and high maintainability in a compact 10-slot 3U chassis.

Description

The NI PXIe-1092 is a 10-slot 3U chassis based on the PXI Express (PXIe) architecture, fully compliant with the PXI-5 PXI Express hardware specification. It integrates a high-performance 9-slot PXI Express backplane, high-output power supply, and optimized structural design. The chassis is designed to provide the highest level of performance, thermal performance, and flexibility for a wide range of automated test and measurement applications.

The PXIe-1092, along with the 18-slot PXIe-1095, is categorized as "highest performance, latest generation, highest thermal capacity," making it NI's most technologically advanced PXI Express chassis product to date. Compared to the PXIe-1085 (18 slots, 38 W/s thermal capacity), which also falls into the 24 GB/s bandwidth category, the PXIe-1092's 82 W/s thermal capacity is a significant differentiating advantage—meaning that engineers can run higher-power instrument modules within a more compact 10-slot space without worrying about thermal bottlenecks.

The PXIe-1092's fully hybrid backplane design offers seven hybrid peripheral slots, each accepting either PXI Express modules or PXI hybrid compatible modules, enabling high flexibility in module placement.
